Light & Motion ARC NiMH - £350

metal Halide high intensity discharge lamp unit. max13.5W bulb 10.8V 3800mA.hr NiMH battery

Comments - I really like this lamp when i first tried it over the weekend. It's cheaper than the Lupines and more easily tailored to different riders than a Stadium because it can be either helmet or bar mounted. Liked it so much in fact that I was going to buyone. After tonight however i think I may pass. Many people don't seem to have problems with it but I did. The darn light would'nt ignite despite my best efforts. If you get a good one it is an excellent product with a wide even, zero cold spot beam with an very intense hot spot right in the centre. The reflector works as designed. It's low weight really helps when helmet mounted; you don't know it's there. Better beam than a certain mail order company's versoin and higher quality build

Pros - Reasonably light weight at 750gr for the system battery run time is 3.5hours in 11W energy conserving mode. Can be hlemet or BAr mounted. Both brackets are supplied with the kit extremely weatherproof most even undistorted beam of all the HID's I've seen or tried.

Cons - ignition switch can be problematic. Had to try a number of times to get lamp to ignite this evening. This does not instill confidence in a £350 purchase. After looking on MTBR.com it seems to be a common problem.
