Lake Vyrnwy (13 miles)
Follow the same signs into North Wales as the other routes and head towards Oswestry.
Go through the town and follow the signs for Lake Vyrnwy. Park at the visitor centre.
Theres plenty of places around here to eat and fill up with fluids before you head off.
From the visitor centre head downhill for a few metres until you see a steep track turning off to the right.
Follow this track, keeping on the fire road as it bears right and continues through the forest.
At a trail crossing beneath the trees turn right and descend down to the forest edge.
Turn left and follow the forest track, which climbs back in to the forest.
Over the summit stay with the track as it bears left, then hits tarmac and passes the visitor centre again.
Turn right and cross the dam, then right and follow the road in to the village of Abertridwr.
Keep right at the bend to a track behind the houses to the left. Turn left and follow the track.
Then take the track to the right through the ford. Climb straight ahead in to the forest, At the top of the hill keep left and drop down to a junction.
Turn left onto to the road then turn right and climb on the road. Take the second fire road off to the left and then the first left as the trail opens out.
Stay on this trail until, after a tree lined section, you reach a right turn.
Follow this up to the next trail then keep right again. Stay on this fire road as it climbs, descends, and climbs again.
After passing a trail on the right, turn left. Climb to the gate at the edge of the forest.
Follow the moorland track through the gate and descend back to the hotel at Vyrnwy, keeping left after the gate in the dip.
Pass the hotel, keep left along the tarmac and drop down to the road. Turn right and retrace back to the start.
