Llyn Brianne (32 miles)
Again starting from the same place asthe Crychan Forest and the Irfon Forest routes. From the centre head south west down the main road and turn immediately right following the signs to Abergwesyn.
Continue along the bank of the river to Abergwesyn. After 8km turn left through a gate onto a forest track.
Climb for 2km to a T-junction and turn left. Continue for another 2km and turn left again, this time descending steeply.
Keep left at one more fork and you will come out of the forest onto a road.
Turn right and continue along the side of the lake to a bridge signposted 'Soar y Mynydd'.
Turn left over the bridge and climb back into forestry.
At the highest point there is a crossroad with two wide tracks, ignore these and fork left 50m later onto another forest track that descends steeply.
Follow this to the road at the bottom. Head straight up the road, cross the bridge on the left and then double back to the chapel.
With the chapel on your left take the second right onto a very loose and very steep climb.
Follow this track for 3km. As the descent steepens, look for a narrow, grassy singletrack on you left between sharp right and left hand bends.
Before you reach the valley turn left onto the narrow track and follow it down the valley.
The track becomes faint in places and very boggy in others but continues down the valley for nearly 7km.
Eventually you join a farm track and turn left into a farmyard. Go through the farmyard and take the left fork immediately afterwards.
This is a good track that climbs up the valley before descending into woodland again.
At the bottom of the descent you meet a road. Turn right and continue around the reservoir and over over the dam.
Turn right off the dam and descend for 300m. Fork left and the road drops down to a cattle grid and then climbs back towards a forest.
As the road swings left, take the forest track on the right. Climb on the track for 3km then right at a T-junction.
Stay on the main track, going straight on at the first junction and right at the second.
Go around the hillside keeping left at a hairpin and turning right at another junction.
The track then drops down the side of the valley. As it levels out, there is a bridlepath on the right.
Turn right and descend to a stream with you ford. Climb steeply up the other side to the road.
Turn right onto the road and follow for 500m to junction by a chapel. Carry straight ahead across the bridge and then right.
This is the road that you followed at the start of the ride and leads you back into Llanwrtyd Wells.
